DoorDash has changed the way we think of takeout and delivery food. No longer do we have to choose between greasy fast food or expensive restaurant fare when we’re too lazy to cook – now we can have anything we want to be delivered right to our doorsteps.
But what about payment? Does DoorDash accept credit cards, or do you need cash? What about tips?

Can I Pay DoorDash with Visa and Mastercard Gift Cards?
DoorDash accepts major brand gift cards as a form of payment. This includes Visa, Mastercard, and American Express gift cards. They are charged in the same way that a credit or debit card is.
Keep in mind that if you don’t have enough money on the gift card, your payment can be declined and the order canceled.
Will DoorDash Accept My Discover Card?

- Purchasing a DoorDash gift card for one of several retailers, including Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, Best Buy, Ralphs, Kroger, Safeway, Albertsons, CVS, and many more.
- Add the gift card to your DoorDash credits in the app.
- Upon checkout, choose the DoorDash credits option as your payment method.
- While it isn’t the most convenient method, it is a way to use to pay for DoorDash deliveries with cash.
Does DoorDash Accept American Express?
American Express is accepted along with Visa, Mastercard, and Discover as a form of payment on the DoorDash app.
Can I Pay DoorDash with Cash App?
You can pay for your DoorDash order with Cash App by using your Cash Cash. It is a prepaid card that allows you to spend money in your Cash App account.
- Open Cash App on your phone
- You’ll see a row of symbols across the bottom of the screen.
- One of the symbols will be a rectangle which represents the Cash Card
- If you haven’t set up your Cash Card yet, click “Get Cash Card” and follow the steps to get started.
- Once you finish, you will be given your Cash Card number.
- Input this into DoorDash as a credit card
- Enjoy your food!
If you want to keep using the Cash Card, a physical copy will be mailed to you within a couple of weeks.
Can I Pay DoorDash with Apple Pay?
Like many retailers now, DoorDash accepts Apple Pay as a form of payment.
To use Apple Pay:
- Select it as your payment method when placing your order.
- You will then be prompted to enter your Apple Pay information.
- Once you finish, you will be routed back to DoorDash to complete your order.
Does DoorDash Take Google Pay?
DoorDash accepts Google Pay to pay for orders placed in the app. This is a convenient way to pay if you don’t want to use your debit or credit card information on the app but have Google Pay set up to make purchases.
To use Google Pay:
- Select it as your payment method when placing your order.
- You will then be prompted to enter your Google Pay information.
- Check out as normal.
Is PayPal Accepted by DoorDash?
DoorDash accepts PayPal as a form of payment. This is a convenient way to pay, so you don’t need to grab your credit card info to pay for your food.
To use PayPal:
- Select it as your payment method when placing your order.
- You will then be prompted to enter your PayPal information, including your email address and password.
- After approving the transaction with PayPal, you will be directed back to the DoorDash app to finish the order.
Can You Use Two Payment Methods On DoorDash?
DoorDash does not allow you to use two different credit cards or virtual payment methods for one order. If you need to split a payment, purchase a DoorDash gift card and add it to your account. You will now be able to use your DoorDash credits along with another payment method.
Can I Use Restaurant Gift Cards on DoorDash?
DoorDash only accepts its own branded gift cards for payments. They do not accept restaurant gift cards when ordering through the app.
For example, you cannot use a Panera Bread gift card to pay for your DoorDash order of Panera Bread food. However, you could use a DoorDash gift card that you purchased at a retailer like Walmart.
How to Delete DoorDash Payment Methods
If you have too many cards on file with DoorDash or you need to update a card, good news! It is a very simple process.
Here’s how:
- Open the DoorDash app and log in to your account.
- Tap “Account” on the bottom-left corner to open the menu.
- Select “Payment Methods” from the menu.
- You will see a list of all the payment methods you have on file.
- Long press the payment method you wish to delete.
- You will be prompted with an “Are you sure…” message.
- Click confirm.
- The payment method is now removed.
Does DoorDash Accept Afterpay?
Afterpay has teamed up with DoorDash to make buying that expensive anniversary meal more manageable. You can now use Afterpay to pay for your DoorDash orders in four installments with no interest or fees. Select DoorDash from the AfterPay app and order as usual.
Is DashPass Worth the Cost?
Do you order out at least once per month? Then the answer is probably yes. DashPass is the monthly subscription service offered by DoorDash.
It includes many benefits like a free meal under $12 once per month, $0 delivery fees and lower service fees, 5% back on pickup orders, special offers exclusive to DashPass members, and savings on grocery orders placed in the app.
These perks are available to participating locations and are subject to DoorDsh terms and conditions.
DoorDash Driver Payments
Many people often wonder how DoorDash drivers are paid. Unfortunately, there are a lot of misconceptions about working for DoorDash, so let’s clear those up.
DoorDash drivers receive base pay for each order they accept. This payment is calculated by considering time, distance, and desirability.
As a side note, Dashers do not receive the service fees charged by DoorDash when you place an order. Instead, the payment they receive is calculated separately.
On top of the base pay, Dashers can earn promotional pay for each order during specific days and times. This is typically an extra dollar or more per completed order. These promotions are common during lunch and dinner, on weekends, and on holidays.
Perhaps most importantly, Dashers receive 100% of the tips they receive on each order. So don’t forget to tip your Dasher just like you would the staff at a restaurant. They depend on these tips to make a good hourly wage.
Does DoorDash Pay Daily?
DoorDash drivers have an option to cash out their accumulated earnings once per day with FastDash. It is a charge of $1.99 per transaction, but the money is available within minutes, if not instantly.
If you are not in a rush, any earnings Dashers get paid on a weekly basis for all deliveries completed between Monday – Sunday of the previous week. Payments are sent via direct deposit and take 2 or 3 days to clear.
Dashers can also receive their earnings instantly and free of charge with the DasherDirect prepaid Visa card.
After each Dash, the earnings are deposited to the debit card and are available immediately. Drivers can also receive cash back on gas when paying with the DasherDirect card.
