ARK Genesis Part 2: Release Date, Locations, New Creatures, Leaks, Trailers and Everything We Know (2024)

Original Story - ARK may be getting a sequel, but the current game continues to be well-supported by Studio Wildcard.

Still, all good things must come to an end, and Genesis: Part 2 will be the final DLC expansion for ARK: Survival Evolved.

Following on from Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction and Genesis Part 1, the upcoming expansion looks to be a fitting end to the release cadence.

ARK Genesis: Part 2 Release Time

June 3, 1PM BST: Another update from Dollie the Product Manager on ARK.

"We're doing final preparations to get the servers online. You'll start to see downloads. Once we are fully online on *every* network, I'll unleash Cedric to let you all know via @survivetheark

So it sounds like it might be rolling out for some, potentially in a few territories, but not all. We'll keep our eyes peeled.

We've also just remembered that David Tennant provides the voice for Sir Edmund Rockwell. The hype train has well and truly left the station.

June 3, 2AM BST: Finally an update from the team. As expected the release has been delayed, but only by a few more hours. Writing on Twitter, the team said:

Genesis Part 2 is currently finishing the automated certification process. We expect that process to be complete in the early morning, so we'll be launching simultaneously on all platforms at 8 AM Eastern June 3rd. Thank you for your patience and support. It will be worth it!

For those wondering, that's a simultaneous release on PC and Console at the same time, which should arrive by 1PM BST for those in the UK.

The games Community Manager also relayed the news (side note: be nice to your Community Managers, please). More to follow.

June 2, 2PM BST: and we're still waiting for the launch of ARK Genesis Part 2.

The only official details we can find is a message from the games Product Manager (@NotDollie) on ARK. Writing on Twitter, she said:

"In regards to launch timeframe: We're on track but we'd like to confirm a few things with the build before we broadcast a precise time. We'll let Ced (our CM) know when we're ready to socialise deployment times and he'll share that with y'all"

But this was 12:19 am and so far there's been no further details from Cedric (@ComplexMinded) the community manager.

ARK Genesis: Part 2 Release Date

For a long while, we'd had no announcements about Genesis Part 2’s official release date, and the DLC expansion pack’s official trailer on YouTube was posted almost 6 months ago. However, it's now been confirmed that Part 2 launches on June 2, and you can find further details here.

This will launch for all platforms, except the Nintendo Switch.

Ark Genesis: Part 2 Delayed

Over the last year, games have been impacted by the lockdowns and other disruptions caused by the recent Coronavirus pandemic.

Wildcard says their focus is on perfecting the game “from a narrative, cinematic, and end-game-wise perspective”.

For the die-hard Ark fans, this delay is somewhat expected as the last DLC was delayed for around 3 months.

ARK Genesis: Part 2 Contents

The expansion is set on a colony ship, and as such will feature plenty of new content for players. It'll also feature David Tennant, with the former Doctor Who actor appearing as Sir Edmund Rockwell.

Locations

There are four new biomes that have been seen so far.

The Eden Zone will be a new starter area for survivors and is filled with rivers and flowing waterfalls. The Tek Trenches act as a bridge between the biomes.

Rockwell's Garden is a new biome which is filled with Rockwell's own eerie and twisted creations. Finally, Rockwell's Innards is the last area in the expansion.

Creatures

Genesis Part 2 will add a series of unique creatures, including the Astrodelphis (we prefer the term "Space Dolphin"), the platypus-looking Maewing, the horrific Noglin, the mystical Shadowmane, and the mechanical Stryder.

Other creatures include the Summoner, Exo-mek, Noglin, and Coidwyrm.

Plenty for you to hunt, then, you monster.

Weapons

Speaking of hunting, the expansion adds a Minigun, Tek Bow, Tek Pistol, and Exo-mek to your survivor's offensive options.
